Fixing broken links

When a link turns red, here's how to triage it fast.

Hard 404 or server error

The destination page is gone or down.

1. Open the link's detail page and check the final URL.
2. If the product moved, update the link to point at the new page.
3. If the product is permanently gone, swap in an alternative or retire the link.

Tag stripped

The link still loads, but your affiliate tracking parameter was dropped somewhere in the redirect chain — so clicks won't earn commission.

1. Review the redirect chain on the link detail page; we highlight the hop where

the tag disappeared.

1. Re-create the link from your affiliate network's own link builder to get a

clean, current tracking URL.

1. Replace the old link at the source.

Out of stock / soft 404

The page loads but the product isn't really available.

1. Decide whether to wait for restock or replace the link now.
2. For seasonal items, you may prefer to ignore the alert temporarily.

Domain drift or excessive redirects

The link ends somewhere unexpected or bounces through too many hops.

1. Confirm the final domain is one you trust.
2. Rebuild the link if the network changed its redirect infrastructure.

After fixing a link at the source, re-run a check (or wait for the next scheduled one) to confirm it's back to OK.
